Twelve camps bring more than 12,000 children to this mountain every summer. Mentone has a few hundred residents. For eight weeks of the year, the camps are the town.
Nine of them are in Mentone itself. Three more sit on the Georgia brow at Cloudland, close enough that families treat them as the same place.
This page is a starting point, not a recommendation. Every camp links to its own site, and they are the people to ask about anything that matters. What we have tried to do is put the things parents always end up hunting for, the dates and the arrival times, in one place.

The twelve camps

| Lookout Mountain Camp | Mentone | Boys | 6 to 16 | Two, four and six week terms |
| Ponderosa Bible Camp | Mentone | Boys and girls | 7 to 17 | One week overnight sessions by age |
| Camp Comer Scout Reservation | Mentone | Scout units | Troop bookings | Five one week resident weeks |
| Nature’s Classroom | Mentone | School groups | School bookings | One to five day programmes, school year |
| Camp Juliette Low | Cloudland, GA | Girls | 8 to 17 | One and two week sessions |
| Camp Woodmont | Cloudland, GA | Boys and girls | Rising 1st to 10th grade | Four two week and eight one week |
| Valley View Ranch | Cloudland, GA | Girls | 8 to 17 | One to nine weeks, riding every day |
Two on that list work differently from the rest. Nature’s Classroom is a school year outdoor education programme, so schools book it rather than families, and it runs on the same property Riverview uses in summer. Camp Comer is a Scout reservation, where troops book a week as a unit.

Book early
Almost every camp on the mountain opens in the same week, the week of 6 June 2027, and the two week sessions turn over together on 20 June, 4 July and 18 July. Those are the weekends when every cabin, inn and restaurant in Mentone is full.
If you need a bed for a drop off or a pick up, book it months ahead. As of September 2026, nine months before next summer, Camp Laney has three of its four junior sessions full and Camp Skyline has four sessions on a waiting list.
Drop off and pick up
| Camp | Drop off | Pick up |
|---|---|---|

| Camp DeSoto | Junior term 9 to 11am, both main terms 1 to 3pm | Junior term 9 to 11am, both main terms 8 to 10am |
| Camp Laney | 9am to 12pm, schedule starts 12:15 with lunch | 9 to 11am, one week juniors 9 to 10:30 |

| Camp Juliette Low | Assigned 30 minute slot, 9:30am to 12pm Eastern | The same slot as drop off |
| Lookout Mountain | 11:00am | 10:00am |
All times Central unless marked. Camp Skyline and the Cloudland camps do not publish theirs, so ask when you enrol.
Three things worth knowing before you drive up.
Camp Juliette Low runs on Eastern time. Every other camp here is Central. It is an easy hour to lose.
Most of these camps have no visiting day. Alpine, Laney, Skyline and Riverview all say so plainly, and Ponderosa discourages visits. Riverview and Skyline will let you visit between sessions if your daughter is staying four weeks or more. It is the norm on this mountain rather than one camp’s rule, and it surprises families who are new to it.
Camp DeSoto drops off in the afternoon and picks up early in the morning. Worth checking twice, because it decides whether you need a room the night before, the night after, or both.
For the camps
