This is a great historical home in Mentone, it's a FAV!!! And...it's for sale!! ❤️The Berry House is believed to have been built in the 1880s, making it one of the first houses built in Mentone. It was the family retreat of Martha Berry, founder of Berry College in Rome, Ga. Its heart pine construction was visited by such notables as Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone, and Thomas Edison as Martha Berry sought funding for her college. Col. Milford Howard built this charming chapel in the 1930s as a tribute to his first wife. It is built around a huge boulder, creating an impressive view from both its exterior and interior. Visitors and worshipers come to Howard’s Chapel throughout the year from many states. They are greeted by the words, “God Has All Ways Been As Good To Me As I Would Let Him Be,” emblazoned on one of the interior beams, a quote from his deceased wife. According to his wishes, Col. Howard was cremated upon his death, and his ashes were placed inside the giant rock within the chapel.
